94. Hanuman changed himself into an ordinary white monkey and went to meet
Sathasoh in the middle of the road. Hanuman asked Sathasoh why he dared to go to
fight against Preah Ream. Sothasoh boasted to the title white monkey that he had
the power to shot an arrow into the heavens and thus to cause spears to rain
down on his enemies. Knowing this, Hanuman went and told Angkut to fly up above
the battlefield and wait in the sky. When Sathasoh shot his arrow causing many
spears to fall, Angkut caught them all and threw them to the monkey troops who
used them to kill the yeak troops. Hanuman then killed Sathasoh, cutting off his
head and taking it to Preah Ream in homage.
95. Preah Ream went to fight Vrul Chambang. Preah Ream killed many of the
yeak troops and Virul Chambang fled from the battlefield.
96. Virul Chambang ran to hide with Neang Rea Narin in the forest of Hemapean,
but Neang Rea Narin refused to let him stay there and Virul Chambang ran on to
hide in the ocean.
97. Preah Ream sent Hanuman to chase Virul Chambang and capture him. Hanuman
changed his form into that of a beautiful man and asked Neang Rea Narin where
Virul Chambang was. When she had told Hanuman, the monkey went to the edge of
the sea and made him huge, combing the ocean until he found Virul chambang.
Hanuman threw Virul Chambang against a mountain, killing him and cutting off his
head.
98. Hanuman carried Neang Rea Narin up to Kailas Heaven. Hanuman then took
the head of Virul Chambang to pay homage to Preah Ream.
99. Krong Reap ordered a victory throne to be built. He then went to see his
grandfather, Preah Meali Reach Brum (Brahma), and Preah En (indra). Krong Reap
asked the two gods to resolve his dispute with Preah Ream.
100. Preah Brum (Brahma) and Preah En (Indra) descended from the Heaven to
the encampment of Preah Ream. Krong Reap brough Neang Seda to the encampment as
well for a hearing on their dipute. Krong Reap explained that he had simply
found Neang Seda in the forest, and that later Preah Ream had come with his
troops and started a fight over the girl. Preah Ream Protested, claiming instead
that Krong Reap had stolen his Queen. After listening to their arguments, Preah
Brum and Preah En decided that Krong Reap should give Neang Seda back to Preah
Ream. Krong Reap was furious and mounted his elephant with Neang Seda to return
to the island of Langka. Preah Brum and Preah En repeated their decision that
Neang Seda should be returned to Preah Ream. The gods returned to Heavens then,
but Krong Reap refused to accept their judgement.
101. Krong Reap went to meditate on the mountain of Preah Somear. Preah Eyso
(Siva), the King of the gods and goddesses, sent Peali, who was living in the
heaven as a god, to go and disturb Krong Reap's meditation.
102. Peali destroyed Krong Reap's meditation and Krong Reap returned to the
city of Langka.
103. Krong Reap went with his troops to fight Preah Ream. Preah Ream and
Preah Leak prepared for battle as well. Krong Reap used his spear (called ''
kombel phat") to seriously wound Preah Leak. Preah Ream then shot an arrow which
hit Krong Reap but didn’t kill him. Krong Reap returned to the city of Langka.
104. Pipaet told Preah Ream to send Hanuman to steal the stone mortar
belonging to Neang Montolkiri as well as the metal pestle belong to Kalaneak,
the King of Batdal, so that they could grind medicine to heal Preah Leak's
wound.
105. Hanuman went to collect the urine of the King of the bulls, Usapakreach,
in order to make the medicine for Preah Leak. He stole the metal pestle from
King Kalaneak and then went to cast a sleeping spell over krong Reap and Neang
Montolkiri, tying their hair together as they slept. Having done this, Hanuman
stole their stone mortar and brought and brought it back to Preah Ream.
106. When Krong Reap and Neang Montolkiri awoke, they saw that their hair was
tied together and their couldn't untangle themselves. They asked a hermit called
Khobut what they should do. The hermit told Neang Montolkiri to slap Krong
Reap's head three times and that then their hair would untangle.
107. Once the medicine had been made, Pipaet applied it to Preah Leak's wound
and could pull out Krong Reap's spear easily. Preah En (Indra) brought holy
water and sprinkled it on Preah Leak's wound so that it healed. Then Preah Leak
and his forced returned to their encampment.
108. Krong Reap asked his older brother, Thabanaso, to help him fight against
Preah Ream.
109. Thabanaso and Preah Ream each rode a chariot into battle. The arrows of
Thabanaso killed many of the monkey soldiers. Preah Ream shot arrows which broke
apart Thabanaso's chariot and killed all the yeak soldiers.
110. Tabanaso then made himself as huge as Preah Brum (Brahma). He was so big
that he blocked the light, and in the resulting darkness he ate all the
remaining monkey soldiers.
111. Pipaet told Preah Ream that Tabanaso had eaten his armies. Preah Ream
had Sugrib turn into a huge monkey with eight arms. Sugrib cut off Tabonaso's
arms and the monkey soldiers vomited out off his mouth. Preah En (Indra) took
sacred water and sprinkled it on the monkey soldiers so that they came back to
life. Preah Ream then shot an arrow killing Tabanaso.
112. There were two yeaks called Kuchkiriwan and Kuchkirito who were the son
of Krong Reap and a female elephant. They lived in the region of Batdal, and
they had the form and face of yeak but the trunks of elephants. When Kuchkiriwan
and Kuchkirito learned that Krong Reap was fighting Preah Ream, they said
goodbye to their foster father, Asakan, and went to hel Krong Reap. Krong Reap
meanwhile asked Neang Montolkiri to make a ceremony to create new yeak troops as
well as to bring the yeak soldiers who had died back to life.
113. Krong Reap then rode an elephant into battle while Kuchkiriwan and
Kuchkirito rode horses. Preah Ream and Preah Leak rode chariots drawn by horses.
Many arrows were shot and many troops on both sides died. At the end of the
battle, Preah Ream shot an arrow bringing all the dead monkeys back to life.
114. Neang Montolkiri gave magic water to a yeak called Mohautou, who gave
the wate to Krong Reap. Te water brought all the dead yeak soldiers back to
life. Neang Mondulkiri then performed a ceremony to call up many spirit of the
dead.
115. Pipaet knew of Neang Montolkiri's ceremony and told Preah Ream to shoot
an arrow that turned into a net, catching all the spirit of the dead. Hanuman,
Jumpupean, and Nil Phat then went to disturb the ongoing ceremonies of Neang
Montolkiri.
116. Hanuman changed his form into that of Krong Reap and approached Neang
Montolkiri, taking her hand and leading her from the hall where she was
performing the ceremony to a place where they could make love. Meanwhile,
Jumpupean and Nil Non destroyed her ceremony hall. On the battlefield, Preh Leak
shot an arrow killing Kuchkiriwan and Kuchkirito. Krong Reap then returned to
the city of Langka.
117. When Krong Reap was the destroyed ceremony hall, he asked Neang
Montolkiri what had happened. Neag Montolkiri realized that she had been tricked
into making love to Hanuman in the form of Krong Reap. She wept until she
fainted.
118. Kronk Reap rode a chariot drawn by a Reach Say (a mythical lion-like
animal) into battle once again. Preah Ream rode into battle on a chariot drawn
by a horse. Preah Ream shot arrows cutting off Krong Reap's arms, legs and head,
but Krong Reap used magic incantations to reattach his limbs and head. They
fought for a long time but neither could wind, and eventually they withdrew with
their troops from the battlefield. pipaet tol Preah Ream to sen Hanuman and
Angkut to use whatever trick was necessary to steal the soul of Krong Reap,
which he left for safekeeping with the hermit Khobut. If Preah Ream had Krong
Ream had Krong Reap's soul, Pipaet explained, he could easily kill the yeak
King.
119. Hanuman and Angkut went to meet the hermit Khobut, begging him to help
them find a way to serve Krong Reap. On one of the days appointed for the hermit
to bring Krong Reap's soul to show the King of the yeak, Khobut asked Angkut to
carry the goblet in which Krong Reap's soul was kept. Hanuman accompanied the
hermit and Angkut as well.
120. When they got to the gates of the palace, Angkut said that he did not
dare to enter. So the hermit told Angkut to wait outside the palace while
Hanuman took the gobletin. Before taking the goblet from Angkut, Hanuman
secretly exchanged the rel soul for a fake once, leaving Krong Reap's real soul
with Angkut while Hanuman and the hermit brought the false one to show to Krong
Reap. When they met Krong Reap, the hermit Khobut informed the demon king that
Hanuman had decided to change sides and to serve Krong Reap from then on. Krong
Reap was very happy.
121. Krong Reap sent Hanuman with some troops to go and fight Preah Leak.
During the battle, Hanuman pretended to chase and beat the monkey troops so that
Sugrib was unable to win the battle.
122. When Hanuman had won this battle, he returned to the city of Langka.
Krong Reap was extremely happy and gave Hanuman the wife of Indrajit,
Sovankanyuma, as well as many possessions. Hanuman then asked for permission to
go and fight again.
123. Krong Reap sent Hanuman to fight and the yeak King accompanied the
monkey to the battlefield in order to watch. When they reached the battlefield,
Hanuman asked permission to go and capture Preah Ream and Preah Leak and force
them to pay homage to Krong reap. When they had flown up into the sky, Angkut
came and gave Krong Reap's real soul to Hanuman who held it up, displaying it to
Krong Reap while shouting curses and taunts at him. Krong Reap begged Hanuman to
give his soul back but the monkey refused. Hanuman then moved his headdress and
jewelery and gave back all the other gilfs which Krong Reap had give him as
well.
124. Krong Reap then returned to the city of Langka, while Hanuman took Krong
Reap's soul and brought it to Preah Ream.
125. Krong Reap knew then that he had to die. He wept and told his Queens,
their attendants, and all his relatives.
126. Krong Reap led his troops into battle for the last time, changing
himself into the form of Preah Brum (Brahma). When Preah Ream and Preah Leak saw
Preah Brum (Brahma) approaching them, the stood and stared, overcome with awe.
Hanuman quickly informed Preah Ream that the image of Preah Brum (Brahma) was
really Krong Reap in disguise. Preah Ream then raise his bow and shot the arrow
Prom Meas at Krong Reap, knocking him from his chariot and changing his form
back into that of a yeak. Krong Reap called Pipaet to come to his side and the
two brothers talked and wept together until Krong Reap died.
127. Krong Reap's Queens, Neang Montolkiri and Neang Akinaet, along with
their attendants and all the yeak soldiers wept and were filled with regret that
Krong Reap had been beyond reason.
128. Pipaet and the yeak Mohautou led Neang Seda, Neang Montolkiri, and Neang
Akinaet to the encampment of Preah Ream. When they arrived, the three Queens
knelt and paid homage to Preah Ream. Preah Ream refused to acknowledge Neang
Seda as his Queen however, since she hd been in the city of the yeak for twelve
years by then and Preah Ream feared that she had not been faithful to him.
129. Preah Ream decided to test the fidelity to Neang Seda by making her walk
through fire. Preah En (Indra) led beautiful women down to earth. When Neang
Seda stepped in the fire, lotus flowers immediately grew out of it, supporting
her feet so that they did not burn, and Preah En's women danced in her honor.
Seeing this, Preah Ream agreed to take Neang Seda back as his Queen.
130. Preah Ream arranged for the coronation of Pipaet as King of the city of
Lanka, giving him Neang Montolkiri and Neang Akinaet as his Queens. At that
time, Neang Montolkiri was pregnant by Krong Reap but Pipaet didn't know this.
As for Neang Ponyaka, the daughter of Pipaet, she was pregnant by Hanuman. When
Neang Ponyaka gave birth, her baby had the head of a yeak but the face of a
monkey. She gave her child the name Asophat.
131. Pipaet prepared a main, or cremation pavilion, for the funeral of Krong
Reap. Meanwhile, Preah Ream went to visit the gardens of the city of Lankar.
132. When a yeak called Asakan, who lived in the city of chakraval and was a
friend of Krong Reap, learned that the King of the yeak had been killed, he
called up his troops and went to fight Preah Ream.
133. Asakan rode a chariot into battle against Preah Ream and Preah Leak.
Hanuman flew up to flight with the yeak and destroyed his chariot completely.
Preah Ream then shot and arrow killing Asakan.
134. Preah Ream and Preah Leak left Langka, leading their troops back over
the road across the sea in order to return home to Ayutya. Pipaet had requested
that, once of the monkey troops had crossed safely, Preah Ream should shoot an
arrow causing the road to disappear into the sea. Meanwhile Neang Montoliri gave
birth to the son of Krong Reap, whom she called Apainsovivong.
135. There was yeak called Panlaykal was the son of Krong Reap an a woman
from the region of Pipuneak. When Panlaykal learned that Preah Rem had killed
his father, he took his troops and went to fight Preah Ream. Hanum changed his
form into that of a buffalo and the two fought until Panlaykal ran away.
136. Hanuman went to ask a hermit where Panlaykal had run to. Knowing where
he was hiding, Hanuman followed the yeak and killed him, cutting of his head to
take to Preah Ream in homage. Preah Ream went to visit the garden of Peali where
he met both a hermit and a hunter called Kokan. Preah Ream then returned to
Ayutyea and reld a celeberation for his troops, shooting an arrow which caused a
huge a mountain to disappear. Preah En (Indra) sent Preah Bisnukar to buil a
beautiful palace in Ayutyea for Preah Ream. Preah Ream made Hanuman King of the
city of Nubkiri.
137. There was a called Mohabal, who ruled over the city of Chakraval and was
a friend of Krong Reap. One day, he wanted to visit Krong Reap but he soon
learned the King of the yeak had been killed. Mohakal was very angry and he took
his troops and surrounded the city of Langka. At that time, in Ayutyea, Preah
Ream had a strange dream and he shot an arrow to Pipaet asking him to come and
interpret the dream. Pipaet sent a letter back by the same arrow, telling Preah
Ream that the city of Langka had been surrounded by the troops of Mohabal. Preah
Ream immediately sent Hanuman to help Pipaet. Hanuman fought with Mohabal until
he killed the yeak. Then Hanuman returned home.
138. One day, Hanuman led the ladies-in-waiting from his court to visit a
garden. Hanuman took off his crown and was relaxing under a mango tree when a
mango fell, hitting his head. Hanuman scratched his head with his leg causing
the women watching this to laugh. Hanuman was very embrrassed and went to say
goodbye to Preah Ream before going to become a hermit in the forest.
139. When Apainasorivong asked his mother Neang Montoliri who his father was,
he learned that his father was really Krong Reap, not Pipaet as had been led to
believe. Apainasorivong tricked Pipaet by telling him that he was going off to
study magic. Instead, Apainasorivong went to meet the yeak Chakavit, a friend of
Krong Reap who ruled over the city of Miwon. Chakavit joined Apainasorivong and
the two rode a chariot drawn by a Reach Say (a lion-like mythical animal) into
battle against Pipaet. Pipaet rode a chariot drawn by a Reach Say as well.
Chakavit captured Pipaet and wanted to kill him, but Apainasorivong asked the
yeak not to kill Pipaet, suggesting that they put him in a cage instead. Neang
Montolkiri then asked Chakavit to coronate Apainasorivong as King of the city of
Langka. Chakavit did so and then returned to the city of Moliwon.
140. When Asophat (the son of Neang Ponyakay and Hanuman)learned of Pipaet's
capture, he went to look for Hanuman who was living as a hermit in the forest.
Asophat told Hanuman what had happened, and Hanuman went to tell Preah Ream.
Preah Ream sent his brothers, Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut, along with Sugrib,
Hanuman, Asophat, Nil Phat, Jumpupean and all their troops to go and free Pipaet.
When they reached the edge of the sea where they had previously built the road
to Langka, Nil Phat made himself huge and spread himself across the sea to form
a bridge on which the monkeys could cross to the island. As soon as they had
crossed to the island, the monkeys sent Jumpupean to the place with a letter
addressed to Apainasorivong, asking the yeak to step down. Apainasorivong
refused.
141. Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut sent Asophat to fight Apainsorivong.
Yeamlivaet and Kanyuvaet, the son of Indrajit, joined Asophat in his fight and
together they captured Apainsorivong and his son Vorneiyso. The two captives
were led to pay homage to Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut and then were killed.
Pipaet was released from his cage. Neang Montolkiri mourned her son
Apainasorivong so much that she eventually became sick and died.
142. Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut went to fight Chakavit. Hanuman changed
his form so that he was as gigantic as Preah Brum (Brahma) and thus could
capture Mukreal, a commander for Chakavit who guarded the door to the city of
Moliwon. Hanuman also killed many of the yeak troops. He then changed his form
into that of a Krut (garuda), Swooping down and pecking at the yeak who stood
guard over the moat of acid which surrounded by the city of Molivon. the moat
immediately dried up. Hanuman went to kill the yeak Kalaso and many other yeak
soldiers. Chakavit then ordered his troops to circle close around the city of
Moliwon.
143. Preah Bhirut and Preah Sotrut rode chariots pulled by a thousand horses
and brought their troops close to the city of Molivon. They sent Nil Non with a
letter for Chakvit asking him to surrender, But the yeak refused. Nil Non showed
his power by starting a huge fire and then flew up and cut off the tower of
Chakviet's palace before returning to Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut. Chakavit
sent his son Suryaphup, riding a chariot drawn by a Reach Say into battle
against Preah Bhirut and Preah Sotrut. The yeak Maekso, a commander of Suryaphup,
changed his form into that of a mountain blocking the passage of the troops of
Preah Sutrut and Preah Bhirut. Preah Sutrut shot arrows hitting Maekso and many
of the yeak troops, causing the mountain to disappear. Preah Sutrut was injured
in the fighting. Nil Phat fought with Suryaphup, while Preah Bhirut went to get
medicine from Preah Ream with which to heal Preah Sutrut. Then Bhirut shot an
arrow killing the yeak Suryaphup.
144. Chakavit sent his son Panlaichak to fight with Preah Bhirut and Preah
Sutrut. Panlaichak was wounded and went off to meditate, but Preah Bhirut and
Preah Sutrut sent Angkut and Asophat to the yeak meditation. Panlaichak came
back to fight again and managed to capture Preah Sutrut. However Sugrib,
Hanuman, Angkut, and Nil Phat fought the yeak and managed to take Preah Sutrut
back again. Preah Bhirut then shot an arrow which killed Palaichak.
145. Chakavit raised his troops to go and fight against Preah Bhirut and
Preah Sutrut again. Meanwhile, the monkey commander Nil Phat went to fight
Mohamaek, while Nil Ek (another monkey commander) fought with Nunyeak, Nil Non
fought with Chakso, and Hanuman fought with Mohakal. The yeak were all defeated
and their heads were cut off. This made Chakavit furious and he went to fight
Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut. Because their forces were evenly matched however,
neither side could win and eventually each side withdrew from the battlefield.
146. Chakavit invited his friend the yeak Waiydal from the city of Kurureach
Sema to come and celeberate together. They then rode into battle against Preah
Bhirut and Preah Sutrut ridding chariots drawn by Reach Say (mythical lion-like
animals). Nil Phat attacked the Chariot of Waiydal fought Nil Phat, while Preah
Bhirut shot arrows which pierced Waiydal's body all over. But Waiydal used magic
incantations to take the arrows out of his body again. Then the yeak ran off to
meditate in the region of Batdal. Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut led their troops
back to the city of KaiKaet.
147. Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut sent Angkut to fight Pichtetra, a
commander of Chakavit. Angkut killed Pichtetra. Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut
then sent Nil Phat and Asophat to disturb Waiydal's meditation.
148. Waiydal rode his chariot in pursuit of Nil Phat and Asophat. Nil Phat
changed his form into that of a yeak and approached Waiydal, saying that he was
a messenger from Langka. Waiydal let Nil Phat ride on the back of his chariot.
Nil Phat changed his form back to that of a monkey as huge as Preah Brum
(Brahma). He destroyed Waiydal's chariot and cut the yeak's head off, taking the
head back to Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut in homage.
149. When Chakavit learned that Waiydal had been killed, he went to fight
Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut again. The two forces shot many back and forth.
Meanwhile, Nil Phat fought with a yeak called Komphensena and eventually kill
him.
150. Preah Bhirut shot an arrow wounding Chakavit, but Chakavit recited
magical chants which enable him to take the arrow out again. Then Chakavit fled
back to his city.
151. Chakavit knew that he must die. He wept and bid farewell to his Queen
Wichini and his virgin daughter, leaving his city to go and fight once again.
152. Chakavit led his troops into battle riding a chariot. Preah Bhirut and
Preah Sutrut also rode chariots into battle. Preah Bhirut shot an arrow hitting
Chakavit. Chakavit saw that Preah Bhirut had particular markings on his skin,
indicating that he was related toPreah Neareay (Vishnu). Chakavit raised his
hands in a sign of homage and begged Preah Bhirut not be vengeful. Chakavit was
then allowed to return to his city of Moliwon where he died.
153. The ministers of the city of Moliwon led Queen Wichini and her daughter
to pay homage to Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut. They ask permission to prepare
the funeral of Chakavit, and Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut agreed.
154. Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut left the city of Moliwon with their troops
and headed for the city of Langka.
155. When Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut came to Langka, Pipaet led his
Queens, with Neang Ponyaka and Neang Sovankanyuma (the Queen of Indrajit who had
momentarily been given as a wife of Hanuman) to meet Preah Bhirut and Preah
Sutrut.
156. Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut then set off for the city of Ayutyea with
their troops. Since there no longer was a road across the sea from Langka,
Hanuman made himself huge and lay across the water, forming a bridge so that the
soldiers could cross the ocean. When they reached Ayutyea, they went to meet
Preah Ream.
157. Weyvaet and Mechanub, who ruled over the region of Batdal under the sea,
came to the upper world to pay homage to Preah Ream. Along the way to Ayutyea,
they met Jumpuhpean, but since they didn't know each other they began to fight.
Preah Ream sent Hanuman to stop the fighting. When Weyvaet and Mechanub had paid
homage to Preah Ream, Preah Ream sent Mechanub to be coronated King of the city
of Moliwon. Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut returned to continue their reign over
the city of Kaikaet.
158. One day, Preah Ream went to walk in the forest while Neang Seda remained
behind in the city of Ayutyea. The ghost of a dead yeak called Atulay, who had
been a member of the family of Krong Reap, disguised herself as a
lady-in-waiting and came to Neang Seda begging her to draw a likeness of Krong
Reap so that she could see what the yeak King had look like. When Neang Seda had
drawn the picture, she could not erase it. Preah Ream returned from the forest
and saw the drawing of Krong Reap. He was furious and accused Neang Seda of
loving Krong Reap. He ordered Preah Leak to take Neang Seda away and kill her.
At that time, Neang Seda was Pregnant. When Preah Leak raised his sword to kill
her, his sword turned into flowers. Preah Leak then refused to kill Neang Seda
and told her simply to go away into the forest. Preah Leak returned to the city
of Ayutyea with the liver of a deer which he showed to Preah Ream as if it were
that of Neang Seda.
159. Neang Seda ran off into the forest. Preah En (indra) changed himself
into a water buffalo and led Neang Seda to the ashram of a hermit called
Wichimarith, in the forest of Hemapean. Neang Seda lived with the hermit until
she gave birth to a son who was born with the help of goddess midwives brought
down from the heavens by Preah En (Indra). The hermit gave the name Reamleak.
One day, Neang Seda put her baby son in the hammock while she went to draw
water. In the forest, Neang Seda saw a monkey carrying her baby just like human
mother. Missing her baby, Neang Seda ran back and took Reamleak with her to draw
water. When the hermit looked for the baby and couldn't find him, he was very
frightened and he conjured up another baby, just like Reamleak, and put him in
the hammock as a replacement. When Neang Seda returned from drawing water,
carrying Reamleak, she saw the new baby in the hammock and was very surprised.
She asked the hermit what had happened and then begged him to let her keep the
new baby as well so that Reamleak could have a brother. The hermit agreed and
they called the new baby Jupleak.
160. When Reamleak and Jupleak had grewn a bit, the hermit began to teach
them magic and meditation until they were very clever and strong. The hermit
conjured up a bow for each boy. Once went the boy went to play in the forest,
they saw a tree made of very hard wood. the two boys shot arrows at the tree
which immediately splintered apart in little pieces.
161. Preah Ream heard the immense sound of the tree splintering and called
one of his fortune tellers to tell him what the sound meant. The fortune tell
said that the sound came from arrows of two boys who were very strong and
clever. Preah Ream decided to sent a gorgous horse with a beautiful saddle and
stirrups into the forest to graze. Hanuman was to secretly to follow the horse.
When Reamleak and Jupleak saw the beautiful horse, grazing alone, they decided
to ride it for fun. The minute they jumped on the horse, Hanuman rushed forward
and tried to grab the two boys, but Reamleak and Jupleak beat Hunuman
unconscious with their bows. When Hanuman regained consciousness, he changed
himself into a small white monkey and took fruit to offer to Reamleak and
Jupleak, trying in this way to catch the two boys again. Instead, Reamleak and
Jupleak caught Hanuman and tied him up.
162. Preah Ream sent Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut to go and see what had
happened to Hanuman. They found Hanuman all tied up in the forest. When they
tried to untie him, they could not.
163. With his legs and arms still tied, Hanuman flew to Preah Ream who know
how free him. Preah Ream then sent Hanuman to tell Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut
to lead their troops into battle against Reamleak and Jupleak. When the troops
of Preah Bhirut and Preah Sutrut met Reamleak and Jupleak, they shot many arrows
back and forth. The arrows of Reamleak and Jupleak turned into ropes which tied
up all the monkey troops.
164. Hanuman then made himself huge and rushed to catch Reamleak and Jupleak,
but the two bys evaded him. Preah Bhirut shot an arrow which hit Reamleak,
knocking him to the ground that Hanuman could finally grab him. Jupleak ran away
while Preah Britut and Preah Sutrut led Reamleak in chains to pay homage to
Preah Ream. Preah Ream ordered Reamleak to be put in a cage and paraded around
while the people taunted and shouted at him.
165. Jupleak ran to tell Neang Seda that Preahleak had been captered. Neang
Seda told Jupleak to follow his captive brother.
166. Agoddess changed her form into that of a servant girl to help Reamleak.
Jupleak met his goddess as she was drawing water. He helped her to liflt her
water jar and secretly slipped a ring into her jar. When the goddess poured
water from the jar over Reamleak's cage, the cage broke apart and Reamleak ran
off to join Jupleak.
167. Preah Ream, Preah Leak, Preah Bhirut, and Preah Sutrut all went to catch
Reamleak and Jupleak then. When they met the two boys, each side shot many
arrows back and forth. All the arrows on Preah Ream's side turned into delicious
foods, while the arrows of Reamleak and Jupleak turned into garlands of flowers
as if in homage to Preah Ream. started, Preah Ream asked the boys who they were
and he realized that he was fighting with his own sons.
